Hugh Hayden's artwork explores American cultural identity through the familiar yet subliminal lens of hair.
The work utilizes content, form, materiality, and technique to create new visual histories that address race, class, and gender.

The Dallas native received a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University in 2007.
Following graduation, Hayden won the prestigious Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Travel Fellowship to study the cultural origins of food-related art, design, and architecture abroad.
Hayden’s artwork has been exhibited both locally and internationally including commissions from Lacoste and Cabinet Magazine.
Hayden is currently a resident of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace Residency, a visiting artist at New York University and will participate in the 2012 Socrates Sculpture Park Emerging Artist Fellowship.
